This journey is a weird one. I mean from the beginning to now. It’s been very awkward, to say the least. I’ve learned a lot about myself tho, so I’m definitely not disappointed in anything that happened along the way. Through the good and the bad, I’m thankful and happy with the person I am becoming.

But I know I couldn’t do any of this without Christ. He’s been my rock through this ‘rough patch’ that I’ve been going through emotionally and creatively. He’s definitely been the most solid person in my corner, and I have some truly solid people in my corner.

Because of that, I’ve made sacrifices to show him I’m fully committed and I want what he wants for me, happiness while I’m here until he calls me home. One of those sacrifices was giving up pre-marital sex. Once I started studying the Bible, I learned that it’s a sin so it was one of those things that I immediately knew I was okay without having. But it’s rough. It does have its tough days.

I mean, I’m human. I scroll through social media. I see the beautiful woman that GOD created. But I’ve learned to appreciate them in different ways besides just putting my ‘pencil in her sharpener.’ I’ve learned that a lot of women and especially women of color don’t have many avenues to be uplifted. Those independent women that I kid with but was really afraid of in the past, deserve to receive their flowers while they can smell them.

Women are good for more than just a casual nut. And from what I see on social media, it isn’t even a good one. Like a woman could be beautiful but she shouldn’t be subjected to catcalls and ‘ashy dick pictures’ (their words) in their DMs. At a point, we as men gotta be better.

Let the weirdos be weirdos. That’s what they are here for. But if you’d like to be classified in it, fellas feel free to be a weirdo. I ain’t mad at your choices just leave the women out of it. They deserve better. They carry our children. They feed our children. They raise our children. While we are on the road they make sure our children have it all. They deserve the world and instead of hurting and disrespecting these women, we should be protecting them.

A video went viral where a man was seen kicking an elderly woman in the face on the train in New York. Though he was eventually captured, I can only think that that woman took one kicks too many. Someone should have stepped in to protect them. But all people are worried about is that 10 thousand likes, even if it means your soul goes a place where it can’t return from. That’s ridiculous and it shouldn’t be tolerated. We as humans shouldn’t tolerate it.

With all that said, let just protect our women. Especially women of color who receive constant backlash on a daily. There is more to life than having sex, getting to know someone over tacos is actually fun. But you don’t wanna hear me. That’s how I know YOU’RE NOT GONNA READ THIS.

  1. Kareem as a black woman I absolutely love this and I wish more men would realize our worth and treat us with the respect we deserve. There are some good guys out there and I know several including you. Keep in writing because I’m going to read it
